Lector JENNY HANSSON

Swedish Breeding Association Växa

Jenny started working in the Swedish Limousin Associations board 8 years ago and became the head of the breeding council 5 years ago. She has been working as a foreman on a pig farm for several years until she decided that she needed a new challenge in the beef sector.

Now she works at Växa, which is the biggest animal association owned by farmers in Sweden, as a breeding material saleswoman.
Jenny’s everyday job is to advise beef farmers by visiting farms and analyzing the data they collect about their animals.

Jenny tell about herself:

I’m 33 years old and started early in my life to engage myself in my parents’ cows at Oderup Limousin

First time I competed with a 7 months old heifer was in 1999. In 2004 me, my father and my grandfather went to the bull individual test auction and my mother had given me some bulls to choose between to buy, maybe it was luck but I want to think this was the start of my real breeding interest.

The bull I selected Unic, won grand champion over all breeds in 2005 as a 2 years old bull and the 1 year old heifer I selected to the same show won female grand champion over all breeds and became 2nd after Unic in total Best in show, although my mother wanted me to select another heifer in the herd. These two animals are behind as mgs and mgd to our first really good polled bull Hans.
